Caitlin Heavey qualified as a Physiotherapist in Dublin in 1982. She has always been interested in Women's Reproductive Health.
Caitlin qualified as a Certified Active Birth Teacher in 1994 and was taught by Janet Balaskas, director of the Active Birth Centre in London.
She was an agent for Splashdown Waterbirth Services in 2001-2003.
Together with her partner Neil, Caitlin set up Elementalbirth; a successful Waterbirth Pool hire business. Elementalbirth Pool Hire ran for over 5 years until Caitlin and her family moved to sunny Fife at the end of 2007.
She is a member of YogaBirth, an international organisation of yoga teachers in childbirth education. Caitlin was one of the founding tutors on the New YogaBirth Teachers Training Course, training the next generation of International teachers.
Until recently, Caitlin was one of the founding directors of Mulberry House, Edinburgh’s largest complementary Health centre. Mulberry House is home to 25 therapists and teachers many of whom are involved in holistic health care during pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood.
